Hope I dont come across as stupid but...

My rear tire was noticeably low. 22 lbs. I filled it up to 32 lbs and 1/2 an hour later it is down to 22 again. So back to the service station and we are up to 32 again.
1/2 an hour later down to 22.
One final time back to fill her up to 32 and 1/2 an hour later she is holding.
Can a tire leak down to a certain pressure (22) and stay there?
I thought once you had a leak it would eventually go down to 0.
Why would mine leak down to 22 and hold?
Why is it now holding at 32?
Should I get it looked at?
I am leaving for a road trip to the twin cities (6 hour drive) and dont want to have any trouble.

You could have a leak, but when the tire reaches a certain pressure, there might be enough give in the it so that it changes the shape and closes the leak. I've used that goo stuff you inject into the tire to close a leak on my old car, but I wouldn't think of using it on the RX8 because it could foul up the TPMS. Any tire place can usually patch a small leak (if they can find it) for a reasonable price.

Probably something like that. Could be a valve stem issues and you just so happened to park it with the stem at “6:00” and after 10 pounds of air escape the tire flexes to a point where the stem closes the leak. The tire bead could also have a weak spot that closes itself at 22 pounds, hit any curbs lately or bad potholes? Can you fill it up and spray soapy water on it to look for bubbles?
