Exclamation HELP!! Removing Lug Stud past wheel hub assembly???

Im trying to help my little brother on his 02 Kia Spectra. His lug studs broke/snapped one by one so we are attempting to swap them out. I removed the caliper and rotor but cant hammer those suckers past the part of the hub assembly.

Any ideas? See pic below for a better idea.

Lug broken help threads:
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...+spectra+forum

Found this one: http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-carniv...lt-broken.html
If you can work on brakes you can change these studs....Really!
1) Remove tire
2) Remove brake caliper housing (use a bungee cord to support or simply lay on cross member behind wheel. This can be done by removing the two mounting bolts size 21 mm.)
3) Remove brake rotors (two screws hold this in. May want to pick up a impact driver hand tool at local auto zone around $12-$15)
4) Loosen heat shield behind rotors ( be careful to not bend)
-there is a notch made into heat shield to rotate around to
remove lug bolts and reinstall. May have put both sides up to
rotate tire around all the way.
5) Use old open end lug nut or regular nut and thread
on end of stud.
6) Take a brass head dead blow hammer and take 3-4 good licks
on nut to drive lug out back side.
7) Continue for any others needing replacement (you might as well
since you've gone this far)
8) To reinstall simply insert stud using guide groove and use new
open ended lug nut to properly seat stud.
9) Reverse steps to put back together and there you have it.

Studs cost around 2.99 each and lug nuts bout 1.99 each so if you
got some time and basic mechanical skills it's not as bad as it
looks but do have plenty of brake cleaner or wd-40 to clear off
old brake dust on old heat shield and inspect pads while there also.
Possible that you need to remove the wheel hub, so ran a quick search:

Looks like you need a press to remove the wheel hub.

Most manufacturers use similar or same parts between cars with stuff like this.

sounds like my problem is around step #4 of the list you got for me.... sounds kinda weird when compared to what Im looking at. The piece that the bolts are hitting on the back side is pretty solid, and doesnt seem as though it can be loosen. It also doesnt change from a "perfect" round piece, so rotating the tires wouldnt solve much. With it had some type of "U" shape to allow the bolts to come off one by one as I rotate them to that "U."

Hub has to come out, which means pulling the axle.
You will need a press for the new bearing as well.
