Help Me Pick Rims

Hey everybody,
I just ordered some accessories for my rx8 and am now considering getting some rims. My rx8 is black (07).

I just got i) Polished Stainless Steel Fender Strakes ii) Front and back Rotary Accents (Stainless steel polished) iii) 3rd brake light mask - RX - 8 Carbon Fiber iv) Aluminum Rear Bumper Grilles Rotary Pattern v) chrome exhaust finishers and vi) all weather rubber floor mats because the carpet ones wear out and look old.

Now, I'm looking into getting some rims as well and here are the rims I like. Please help me pick as I can't choose!

1) ASA AR9 With Spoke Inserts

Close Up

2) Enkei Racing RP05

Close Up

3) i) O.Z. Adrenalina Titanium Mirror

Close Up

3) ii) O.Z. Adrenalina Machined w/Flat Black

Close Up

4) Sport Muscle Tach

Close Up

I keep changing my mind from one to another and can't decide which is why I decided to post it here and get some opinions.

thanks a lot,
Gabe

I do not like any of the ones you have uploaded Have you looked at the vendors here on the forum? They have better looking rims and in good prices. I personally like the OEM ones painted black. I am planning to do this soon!

Of those posted, I like the AR9s in gray or black. But I'm gonna paint my OEMs black, too.

thanks for the comments, I appreciate the honesty.

tza, I'm new to this forum and don't know where to look for the black OEMs (do i paint them myself). Can you post a link to the vendors or something or point me in the right direction?

thanks!
Gabe

There is a lot of difference in the quality of those rims. The Enkei and O.Z. both make high quality wheels. The Enkei RP05's will be the strongest and lightest in that group.

Does anybody know how I can paint my OEM rims to this colour? What's the cost? Can I do it myself? thanks guys...I'm leaning towards just painting my OEMs black instead of getting new rims

Gabe just type in the search engine "paint OEM wheels" and you will find a bunch of information, pictures, and opinions. I tried to find a link for you but there are many out there I did not know which one could be the best source of information for you.

thanks tza, the amount of different links is a bit overwhelming but I think I found a good tutorial on youtube that I'll use to guide me through this.

Is the color of the rims on the car above, is it black? it looks gun metal...when I go to Canadian Tire to pick up the spray paint, which color should I pick? Like to get the color that's above, would I get the can that says 'black'?

Also, you said earlier that you're planning on painting your OEMs black too, is your 8 black? Do you think black on black will look good? I personally like a clean sharp look and don't know how the black on black will look. Is there anyone who's done this who can post pics?

I kinda regret getting a black 8, wish i had gotten it in a james bond gun metal color as it's easier to find a nice contrast in colors with gun metal rather than black (not to mention it'll look cleaner at all times)

thanks!

First thing you are in the Series 2 forum lol. You have a series 1 car. Next, do not spray paint the rims on your own and expect them to last very long. Black on Black isn't the way to go imo. Definitely check for what other people have done and look to get something from a vendor like Autornd (he is in the subforum at the top of the site). edit: You just covered your car in shiny stuff? Eh maybe our tastes are a little different.

My thread was moved here by an administrator. I didn't know where to post it so I posted it in the RX8 discussion thread. I didn't move it here...

I believe it is gun metal

My car is VR so black rims would look nice. I will take the car to a body shop to get the job done. However, if they ask for more than $300 I will keep my money, save some more and buy aftermarket ones. Another color I like and it might look good on BB is bronze.

That is why I told you to look at the threads. I know they are many but it is the only way. People on this forum have done anything you can imagine. So just spend some time read a few threads and see the pictures people upload in their posts. Then you will know what you like.

p.s: Spend some time on the forum. You will learn many things about the car and the rotary engine which will save you time, trouble and $$$!

Wheels made in the U.S Are kinda crappy, in my opinion Japan makes the highest quality wheels. Wheels Brands such as SSR, Work, Amistad, Leon Hardiritt, Fabulous Profound, Auto Couture the list goes on. They are High quality wheels. Costly too, but its worth it. Thats why im savin some money to upgrade mine. Good luck.

I'll make it easy for you, your 1975 Silverado has a 5X5' bolt pattern. That's 5 bolts spaced 5" (from center to outside) apart. All the full size Chevy ttucks with 5 lugs from 1960-1999 (don't know about before and after that) had the same bolt pattern.
