Help choosing springs

so i had the S Tech springs on my car before but it looked like crap so i decided to sell them and cut the springs instead, turned out it looked bad because one of my struts were bad, so i replaced all 4 struts and am thinking i want to get rid of the cut springs (only in front have cut) and get some springs, here is a pic of how low the front is, i want springs to match this as best as possible, i am sitting on 18x9 with a 40 series on the front, any suggestions to get as close to this low would be great, thanks.

Cutting your springs is a horrendous idea if you ever push your car AT ALL. That being said, coilovers are the closest I have seen to that kind of drop. Springs rarely get more than an inch lower than stock

search the stickies - there's threads showing pic's of already lowered 8's with different (spring/strut) combinations

Cutting your springs is retarded and dangerous. googling "cutting springs" would have answered that question.

cut springs = dumb

also there are springs that get you a >1inch drop. I dunno what the previous person was talking about. Unfortunately, I doubt the rates are high enough to not hit the bumpstops. EX) sprint springs; 2inches all around.

search here for more spring info: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-aftermarket-performance-modifications-23/spring-springs-springs-90198/

I did do the google search and everyone has a different opinion on forums for cut springs, i think i will be just fine, my tech did it perfectly he has cut springs before, and i am just a daily driver not someone going all out crazy like taking it to track or auto cross so i think i will do just fine, i even found a thread where someone said to cut them you have to cut them in the middle and weld them back together lol what an idiot, but yeah i think i will keep it like this for a while

wow what is this, a Honda forum? If you can afford the car you can afford a nice coilover setup and get dropped as low as 3 inches

cutting springs on a car like this is like buying ur girl a breast implant, but rather than go to a doctor for it... you buy a balloon and try and do it urself.

and in regards to drops greater than 1", a few report 1.2, but reality im always skeptical. and any spring that drops 2" will blow the oem strut pretty damn quick

The lowest springs you can go with are SPRINT.

Here's an idea: why don't you just get bigger rims to close the wheel gap??

I second that, after having the 8 in the air, the stroke on it doesnt look like it could handle that drop in the rear. the front looks like it might be able to. but im almost certain that the rear would be hitting bump stop all the time. not to mention, that height drop is going to be a high *** spring rate which will fry the valves in the shock.........my 2 sense

Tein basic's at around 7-800. Pretty cheap and slams it down. Not great for track and average on street but you get what you pay for.

You could just mix and match - maybe some rsr's + koni yellows.

there's a thread on this btw...

Actually bigger rims make your car ride higher (from personal exp.) lol. I had to get springs before I threw up looking at my own wheel gap.

Megan Racing Coilovers - great for DD, not for track. Cheap (in coilover terms)
Koni Yellow Shocks + Tein S-Tech Springs - probably the setup I will be going with. I already have the s-techs, just need to either get these shocks or the Tokico's

Not what I've heard from numerous people. The Koni + S-tech combo actualy rivals some great coilover setups, and the Basics do quite well on the track.

Thread on Basic/Yellow+S-Tech - Read this whole thread... it will help you
