Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2

I changed out a set of Goodyear F1 A/S tires for these Hankooks. I liked the old Goodyears, but failing to rotate the tires like I should allowed one pair of them to wear much more than the other pair. My bad. Lesson: rotate your tires!

The new tires definitely handle differently. The older Goodyears were a bit crisper. You could feel it in the ride. And probably in the turns as well, though I do not drive very agressively to notice. Perhaps the change in ride is better for us older farts.

With any luck, I'll try to remember to update this after I've hit some snow over the coming winter (6 mo away or so). The Goodyears performed adequately in the snow. I had an instance where a 20mile trek into the city and back during a heavy snow fall (heavy enough that businesses let workers go home early), I was able to successfully and uneventfully make the round trip with due caution of course.

Alignment note: I noted that my rear tires wore on the inner edge more than my fronts. The guy at the Goodyear tirestore said that the rear tires are sometimes aligned like that to aid handling performance. I've never hear of such a thing. The alignment would have been from the factory, and not after the fact. Learn something new every day.

My 2cents.

there is more negative camber in the rear of most cars from the factory especially rear wheel drive cars for safety reasons. Less likely to oversteer into a guardrail that way. The more negative camber will result in more wear on the inside of the tire. So, not only should you rotate front to back but usually about half way through their lives flip the tires so the inside is now outside and vise versa.
