Front brake replacement

Hey guys,

My 2004 with 70k needs the pads and rotors replaced up front and the dealership wants $900 canadian for parts and labor; that seemed a little high to me. What have you guys done in the past, gone after market or a combo stock pads and after market rotors? If after market please recommend a model/brand for me.

Thanks again

I always recommend Racing Brake rotors and Cobalt Friction pads. But that's what I like. Google and the search button will yield more answers, honestly. Everyone has their own opinion, research the brands and what you are willing to pay and make a decision for yourself.

Unless you're spending big bucks, almost any brake rotor will give you similar performance. Therefore, I would recommend a company called Trinet Motorsports' rotors. If you search for Trinet in the title, you'll see a mini-review I made shortly after I put these on my car. They look sharp, don't cost a lot, and have given me back my brakes (before I would use a lot of engine braking, due to rotors out of spec). There isn't too much of a difference between prices of brake pads, so I would choose something like Hawk's or EBC if you want better braking performance, or just stock or something ceramic for smoothness and minimal squeel.

For street use there is no reason other than bling to modify the OEM brake package. Good quality inexpensive Centric brand rotors can be had at www.zeckhausenracing.com or other websites. Racing brake has good stuff also. OEM pads work fine for most street use. If you want a little more bite try Axxis Ultimates (just Google) or Carbotech Bobcats( www.ctbrakes.com .
