That is interesting. It would be neat if they would put the dates of the tires in the info of the test.

A few years back I bought a set of Yok AD07s from Tirerack. They were on a big closeout sale because the AD08s had come out. When they arrived the date stamped on the side put the tires at 5 years old. I called Tirerack with my concern for such an old tire, they offered a full refund and paid for shipping. Kudos to Tirerack for being a great company!

As to the DZII vs Star Spec test. We did the best with the time and resources we at hand last fall. Like always, we were excited to share the results with our fellow enthusiasts and customers as its been along time since we've had a new Extreme Performance tire to discuss. We plan to do the same with the additional new tires as they become available. Its just one data point, their will be many more as we move into Spring. I'm looking forward to hearing Team's and others feedback once they have a chance to run them on ST prepped cars.

Ah, found it now. Thanks. I also appreciate the tire rack test and all the tests you guys do in general.

Damn, too late for me, lucky for someone else. What made you change your mind?

As a slight aside I am looking for a stiffer front bar (whiteline or progress should be about right) to balance out some new springs...

Look at the new Progress Technology bars for the '06+ Miata.

MX5 Suspension - Sway Bars - Mazda Performance Parts

About the same specs as Whiteline, but with much nicer ends and with locator tabs to prevent the bars from slipping sideways. The PT/AP bars for the RX-8 are too stiff for my liking. Hopefully, I'll get to do some writing about this (and others) this weekend.

I think the quoted "6.35mm side wall" is actually 2x wall thickness. To avoid crapping on this thread any more let's continue here:

Ran a set of Z1's back in the day. REALLY liked those tires. Amazing on the street and they made me look much better than I was at the auto x course. Very short lived but worth it IMO.

After really coming to dislike my Michelin Super Sports through its 15-20k life now, which also were raved to be the best tire in a long time (OEM for Ferarri, BMW, dual compound tread from 'LeMans' etc), you never know how you will like the tire until you try it yourself.

Grain of salt....I got bit really hard and now I truly understand.

Mark let me know if you need a set of 255 R1R's. I have a set that only has 10 runs on them.

Most likely we will be running them in the 12hr race at NJMP in April. If we do I will come back and leave a report on how they did.
