OK. I've been told by some that I cannot use the stock Dunlop 8090 for North Carolina winter. I went to the top service manager of my Mazda dealer and he said the Dunlop 8090 can be used in North Carolina winter or any mild winter state. Some said, it is BS and I should not believe the service manager. So, I went to the Dunlop website and wrote Dunlop themselves. Below is their response on the use of Dunlop 8090 for winter ...

Seriously - on dry pavement, they will be OK, even below freezing (but be careful). On snow/ice of any sort - park the car wherever it is and take a bus, taxi, bum ride, whatever.

PS - my other car is an allroad also. I put winter tires on it for winter, they make a huge difference over the standard all-seasons. The all-seasons get it moving just fine, but for braking and corners, the winters are leagues ahead on snow/ice. Tires are much cheaper than bodywork!

It seems like we have the same taste in cars - Allroad + RX8 ha ha :D :p

My wife loves the allroad .. the RX8 gives her dizzy spells in twisty roads.

But she likes that fact that I got the RX8 for my day to day driving so I don't have to drive the allroad :D

I also don't intend to drive my RX8 on snow (I will use the AR). The only reason I ask is that summer tires can get hard on cold weather and lose traction even without snow. So, I wanted to know if I could drive the RX8 on non-snowy winter days.

I have Falken Ziex 512 tires on my allroad ... hey gordon, do you hang around the www.audiworld.com forum? I have a Cobalt Blue AR and we love it for long trips.

** I guess you and I have a different weather situation? You are in Canada, right? Carolina winter is not very harsh and I had no problem driving my allroad up the Blueridge mountains during our mild winter season using all season tires.
