Custom Stainless Steel Brake Lines
So after my brakes started fading and I knew I was ready to change my pads again.....I got thinking about some SS brake lines.
After going through the whole Goodridge, Autoexe, blah, blah, and etc. of manufacturers, I noticed that ALL of them were about the same and I also noticed that they were ALL highly overpriced!
So I asked a few good friends from my Miata community and found a local shop to build me a kit. I can say the choice of parts are excellent, they're DOT approved (has the DOT sleeves), they're teflon coated, they're two-piece, and they have high-quality aerospace quality stainless steel fittings.....why?
Because we got them from an aeromotive parts supplier / manufacturer. These lines were built by them in their facility. Their past cars include: NASCAR teams, Bonneville Salt Flat teams, LeMans teams, countless aeronautics teams, and more.
So I knew I was well taken care of. The guys over on the Miata forums are using them with great success and I was the FIRST RX8 that they made the lines for. So we're all good for more kits!

Let me know by PM if you're interested. Right now, we're just gathering interest. If enough people are interested, we may think of ramping up production on the kits.

They really made the brakes feel much better! Also, the clutch line dramatically improved my clutch pedal feel as well!
I used to have an issue where it felt like the clutch would get softer, then harder, then softer......all the bleeding in the world wouldn't fix it.
Now with the new SS clutch line, the stroke is MUCH more consistent feeling through its full travel. The brakes also have a great feel to them!
No leaks, great feel, and GREAT product!

So I finally got a chance to run these lines at local canyon that I frequent from time to time. The new SS clutch line gave me a consistent clutch pedal feel on each shift. Prior to installing this line, I would get a vague feeling clutch pedal - especially after a really hard run and getting the temps up there. Now I have consistent pedal pressure throughout the entire stroke EVERY time.
The SS brake lines REALLY made a huge improvement in overall braking. It actually took a bit to get used to the new ways my brakes were modulating. There was still room for modulating through the turn, but the overal feel was like a brick house was behind my brake pedal. There was a noticeable change in pedal pressure and you can't feel the lines expanding when coming to a "oh ****" turn and braking deep into the corner.
I'm currently scheduled to test these out at Buttonwillow in April. I'm going to put these through HARD abuse and see how the lines hold up.

These lines have different construction from Goodridge and what not. You'll usually notice it first by the fittings. These have 100% stainless steel fittings, have teflon coating for durability, and these are a two-piece design that solves all brake line binding issues.
They're convenient and they're made with high quality items. Well, I originally was gathering interest. Currently, we can offer the kit at $125 shipped for all (5) lines. This is not for profit, but to cover cost of the lines, packaging, and labor.

That is a good price. I ordered the clutch line through Mazda Motorsports and it was the Goodrich part. They seem to F everything up. Then ends aren't aligned properly so it has a 180 deg twist in it in order to get them in the locating bracket with the clips installed.
They must be made by the same company RacingBrake uses because the ends with the black piece are identical, except their front line is 1-pc which I haven't had any issue with. They came with the brake kit.

This is exactly the reason why I didn't go with Goodridge and others like it. When you put the banjo bolt on one side, having the other side fit and turn correctly with no bind in the lines puts everyone at ease on the install portion of it.

We didn't originally make the kit with just the brake lines, but I don't see why not. I would just figure since the clutch line is so easy to replace and that it improves the feel of the clutch - why wouldn't you want to change it?
I'm sure the difference in price wouldn't be that much anyways. I'd have to ask for sure though.
Again, I'm not trying to make a business out of this by any means. I have a full-time career, but cars are my hobby and I like to help like-minded people out a lot when I can.
We originally did this because.....well.....my group of friends are just like TeamRX8, Eric Meyers, CRH, and others on this board - they don't like parts that fail or were poorly engineered from the get go.
The stock lines are terrible. A lot of the aftermarket lines are terrible.
If anyone let's us take pictures of the installation process so that we can document it for the buyer, we would be willing to discount the price for your services. Car must be in the southern California near Ontario, CA.

Great price.
I have the Russel/Edelbrock lines. They a bit were more expensive than this but I'm happy with them.

Just remember the disadvantage of SS lines.
A pinch.
Yes thats right, they get pinched easily at the track.
It doesn't take much to go off or have rocks on the local tracks.

SS lines oftentimes needs to be "worked" to settle in under the wheel wells nicely. they can often get caught on suspension arms, pulled on rebound, rubbed on by the tires (when lowered or wide tire profile)etc.
how is a mere suggestion of where a problem may occur a bad thing?
to me... the oem lines are what they are. but they sure as hell aren't engineered badly. just that they are rubber...
i'm happy with the mazdatrix lines for its price. but will warn to use extra clips(or zip-ties) to secure the lines to the arms if running really wide tires as they will rub the lines during U turns if not used.
for the price of your line makers are asking... i DO hope it is a decent and trouble-free set.

If you can make the same or better quality at a good price then they should be a great buy!
