Carbon Ceramic Brake Rotors: Anyone know much about these?

http://www.zeckhausen.com/Mazda/RX-8.htm

Was looking around the web for information on carbon ceramic brake rotors, and came across this site for the RX-8. Now, I know StopTech does CCBRs for Corvettes, so this looks pretty interesting.

Admittedly, the weight savings going CCBRs in the 8 might not be as significant, since our rotors are light as hell already (18.5 F/12.5 R Sports Suspension), but if it's the right price (which it someday might be) it could be one hell of an upgrade.

Has anyone seen these before? Or any form of CCBRs for the RX-8? I searched around the forum, and only one thread mentioned any form of CCBR. Everything else carbon ceramic referred to were the pads.

Unless they were less expensive than available 2 piece rotors I would think this would pretty much be overkill for the street on an RX8 unless you just wanted the bling factor. For street use the RX8 brakes are exceptional even without a pad upgrade. For the serious track car these might be an option, better cooling but a substantial savings in unsprung and inertial weight. Now if the price was similar to cast iron one piece rotors (unlikely) and they were reliable as well, I could see using them on the street for the weight savings. JMHO

Reliability in CCBRs seem to be similar to cast iron rotors, including life longetivity. Just seems to have greater heat tolerance.

I would love to see what price they come out as.
