car accident monday - need new tires/rim

Hi guys,

Hope all is well with you.

I live in DC and the storm hit us on Monday. I got into an accident due to the weather which damaged my 4 tires and right front rim. Luckily my suspensions were not damaged and the axle does not appear to be damaged. There are some dents under the car, but nothing to fix.

This all started when I was driving to work, with my stock rims/tires, and unfortunately started drifting while driving. I was on the right most land on a 3 lane highway. Immeidately I lost control (I slipped) and drove over the median and actually hit the side walk on the opposite side of the street. I couldn't believe that I actually crossed a total of 6 lanes and the media.

I thought I was going to be paralyzed! its that thought when you lose control.
Thank God I'm ok and there was no oncoming traffic.

I would appreciate if the RX8 community could help me out. I need a new right front rim and was told by the AAA approved garage that the total cost for 4 tires (963.00) and right front rim (~700.00) with alignment and fees would be a total of approximately 1700.00.
This is a large expense since I'm still a student right now.
I was thinking it would be more cost effective to just buy a new set up rims (cheaper) on tirerack.com with new 4 tires (2 of my tires are blown and flat now, with the other 2 bald according to the garage).

I'm looking at the Enkei performance imola black wheel for a total of 628.00 for a set of 4 rims.
Also, I'm looking at Pirelli P zero nero all season tires for 644.00.
BTW my car is a 2006 mazda rx8 manual 6 speed.

I'm really not an expert here, so please let me know:
1) if you think this is an affordable option and good purchase decision
2) if these wheels/tires will work
3) I understand there is a tire pressure monitoring system. will I need to tell the garage that they need to hook up the tire pressure monitoring system in any special way? will I need any new parts?

Please let me know thanks. hope to return the favor in the future whenever I can.

Sounds like you got off easy.
You should double check things for more damage.( just to be safe )

$1200 is certainly cheaper than 1700. However 700 is way too much for the oem wheel. There is one posting in the classifieds I just saw for $500 for all 4. You should shop around to local used parts yards. You should be able to get a wheel for a couple hundred.
