As long as it's not gold or bronze, I think any color would do. I would like to see more silver now for that subtle classy look. Sometimes I wished I got silver.

thanks! they're 18inch 8.0 offset +38 all 4 corners - non-staggered set-up so i'll probably get flamed on this!!!!!! haha!
re30 only comes in 15inch-18inch at the moment!

Good for you getting 18 inchers and non-staggered. It would've been extra kudos if you had gotten 17s so better luck next time. I would've preferred a less aggressive offset, but these look very nice indeed.

Volk TE37 Gunmetal 18x8.5 +40 5-114.3

Sad thing is they weight about the same as my stock wheel w/pirelli winter tires.

About 18lbs each without tires. RE040's are quite heavy.

looking to put 245/40's all around

hmmmm, that's a really hard question, and one that was on my mind for these few months. if you're goin for 19 inch + rims then your only choice will be the progressiv ME. as the largest size for RE30 is 18 inch. and if you get wider tire size rims the face shape will look even better.
although these rims look similar from a distance, the ME will always have a more classy look, while the RE30 is just sporty track looking and it will also be slightly lighter.
my final decision was based on the following: the RE30 i got was available immediately since they were some of the last remaining stock at rays japan. they were the newest and technologically advanced design, while the ME has been around for a couple of years. there's no stock of ME at rays, and the next production run will start during june. so, if you guys have to wait anyway, i think the 19 inch ME will look amazing in the 8! that would be my first choice if you wont be tracking your 8 with them.
er, did i answer your question??

yeah, thanks a lot. Well, I am looking for style, but also the design of it. For instance, as soon as I read that you said the RE30 is lighter than the ME, well that statement pretty much got me sold on the RE30s, because I want light wheels. Plus, isn't it true that 18" won't lose to a 19" because of the inertia, and the bigger the wheel the harder it is to turn and stop and the wheels? And I am not that knowledgable in these things, but I always thought lighter the wheel, the better, correct? Anyways, please do educate me on this if you do not mind?

Thank you sooooo very much Puff!

P.S. I would like to know which of ME or RE30 would benefit the overall handling and performance of the Rx8 more/most. I like both the appearance of ME and RE30, so I would not mind picking one over the other.

yes, 18inch rims will perform better than 19inch not only in cornering but also straight acceleration, especially for smaller torque engine in the 8. that's why you're not gonna see a lot of 19inch rims running on the track. but seems most drivers are going for the looks, which i have done on my cars before my 8!
regarding choice between ME and RE, you'll really have to see for yourself, the ME looks better, but the RE30 was designed to be the best track performer because it is slightly lighter and more rigid. did you look at the ray's website????

also, track wheels aren't always 'bad' looking, as evidenced by the guys pickin up TE37 and CE28 rims instead of more flashy looking rims!

don't forget, regarding performance, don't skimp on your tire choice, they are possibly the most important mod on any car

Wow, thank you so much for that lesson! I am starting to lean more towards 18" RE30 now, because it feels like even though I might not tracking it, its lightness and rigidity will allow my daily driving a bit more "clean" and comfortable. I do not know if that will be true, but from my own understanding, that is how I feel will happen. But again, I am pretty dumb
