Any downsides to painting the pads? I am going gloss black on the calipers and had the thought that having the pads glossy black would be nice. (Of course the black smooth shape of the Brembos would be better)

Any special considerations (preparation etc.) for the pads?
Thanks all

Craig

hello craig no downside at all i have always done it cause it makes it look bigger(caliper)
no extra prep.just make sure it dries apply everything with coats
so you dont get drips.

Pads

No disrespect but when the pads are painted it looks as if it was a home-made job because that's not the way you purchase a "big brake kit" which in a nutshell we are all simulating here. You can buy pads with color (EBC, etc) but in my opinion (and it's not worth much more than .02) just paint the calipers and when done right they look great.

i don't understand why you waste time painting them...when you get new brake pads are you gonna re-paint those?...i don't know seems "over the top" to me...but if you like it...great...

its cool to each its own.
i have always done it this way cause it does look like a brake kit
to me

the whole thing painted make it look like that.

the caliper of course are different than ours but i tried to make it look as close to it as possible(no sign of brake pad)

heres one of my s4 its not a close up but just a random pix.sorry for big pix

now heres some of a rx8

heres one of the autoexe painted pads for those that are not changing the calipers at corksport website.

mazdaspeed

man i can show you a million sites but be cattle.do what everyone has done on this site with a new car.heres one for your car :D

i have been in the import scene for yrs and have attented numerous shows, and have never had anyonne mention the "homemade job"look so its working

xero
waist of time is covering it
but i might try the autoexe in summer of course red pads
if not one day try

the moral of the story is too each its own
im happy and glad with the way my car looks, that all that matters to me.
sorry 56k users for all the photo's
