the distance from the upper side of the rotor until the surface where the wheel mounts.

all i know is that racingbrake.com offers a bbk that fits the stock rx8 wheel offset....

Home > Aluminum Caliper Kits > MAZDA > RX8 > Oversized (13") > Fits stock wheel offset >

what do you need to know that for? it's not gonna change. wheel offsets change. otherwise, by spacers.

Dan, I think he's trying to put together his own brake kit.

Next, he should be wondering the face diameter / volume of the calliper pistons & the master cylinder.

Brake bias & the ABS / Traction Control / DSC may well be affected by piecing together your own kit. I know that the aftermarket brake mfgs. do a lot of testing, and still sometimes get it wrong...

There's a lot more to doing this properly than just slapping on some 6-pot calipers.

Technical articles on brake bias, ABS, etc. from StopTech: http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/te...e_papers.shtml

(I'm not saying the O/P isn't capable, just a head-up for others who think they can parts-bin a new braking system)

all this matter. the car is going to be balanced in a maha brake meter.i am trying to make a brake kit with f50 4 pot caliper and 330x30 flotting 2 piece disks.it is not so difficult.f50 is the same dimension with the 4 pot stoptech caliper exept that it is using the biggest pistons in market for 4 pot (40mm and 44mm).changing from 322x24 to 330x30 is close to om. i am not buying a kit because it is very expensive.(stoptech 2K euro, wilwood 2,2K euro, brembo with gt caliper 2,5K in greece).all this are going to cost 1K euro.

ahh, you should've stated that before! now it makes sense. well, if you have an RX8, you could just take off the wheel and take some measurements.

I can tell you from experience that the stock RX8 brakes perform very, very well. If you're trying to upgrade your braking capability of a street car, you will find HUGE improvements by upgrading YOUR TIRES---not your brakes. The brakes are fine my friend.

One thing everyone should look for is the wear pattern of the brake pads. The calipers will tend to "open up" over time and the top portion of the brake pad will wear more than the bottom portion. The best fix for this is to throw away the caliper and get new ones. This will give you better pad on rotor surface contact and better braking.

Mazda sells a brake rebuild kit for about $12 I think. One kit does 2 rotors.

Happy braking.

Changing the piston diameters will change the front/rear brake bias unless you make proportional changes in the rear piston diameters. Unless you match the caliper piston diameters front and rear appropriately to the master cylinder piston diameter you will ruin the brake bias and the car will brake worse not better.
