Anyone else beating up on your tires like me?
Since the Rx8 is knownfor its amazing handling and that glued to the road sensation and notso much for its straight line performanceI have changed the fashion inwhich I normally screw around w/sports cars. Instead of gunningthe car from light to light likemost people do w/their sports car to feelthat speeding sensation I execute disturbingturns w/my car. But Im starting to wonder howmuch life I must be sucking out of my tires by now w/all those abusive turns.
You all must be aware by now that you can take ridiculous turns in this car COMFORTABLY at higher speeds than youwould dare risk in other ordinary vehicles. I thinkIve become addicted to that facet of the car w/o realizing that I must be ripping the shitout of my tires all the time. I take obnoxious turns at least once everydrive in my Rx8 just b/c I know it doesnt even phase this vehicle but all along Ive been neglectingto consider the tires. Normallythis wouldnt be a problem forme since other cars dont handle well enoughfor me to even bother attempting wild turns but the Rx8 is a completely different story. Thisis how I have the most fun in this car.
Yet for some reason atmy last tire rotation the service techs indicated that all 4 of my stocktires were still in top shape and had plentyof treadlife left so Im a little confused now. Are the tires some how more tolerant to dangerouslyidiotic turns at over 60mph? Or doesit take a little bitmore than just that for the tires to show signsof loss of life?

Considering that replacing the OEM tires will run close to a grand if you include mounting and balancing (and delivery if purchased on-line), I certainly care. I have the same worries, because it's sheer joy to accelerate into corners and whip the back end around. I have to do it at least once or twice per day. I'd imagine it's taking a toll on the tread... I'd like to get at least 3 summers out of the tires considering that I'll have winter tires installed for 4-5 months out of the year.
