Any advice on the Avon Tech M550

Hey Everyone:
I was wondering if anyone had these tires. I am considering to buy them for the winter. Any experiences or advice would be helpful. Also, I am new to this forum, and if this question is in the wrong place, I apologize.
Thanks
K

Nobody must have these. I'm looking at them also. Can't beat the price.

Yes, I read that. I was looking at the MS500 which is a the Ultra Performance Summer Tire. That's the all season version MS550 they tested. I'm trying to save some money without hurting my performance this summer.

Here's a review of the MS500:

1994 Mazda RX7
Miles driven on tires: 6,000
Reviewer's Overall Rating: 8.143
Location: San Bernardino, CA
Driving Condition: Combined Highway/City
Driving Style: Spirited

"Jolly good tires, chaps!" Sportbike enthusiasts and some minor-league Formula racers have known the Avon brand for a while. When I saw that they made automotive tires for cheap, I knew it would be a good deal. These are a great tire for the price. Ive used them at a few autocrosses, they have plenty of grip with no signs of rollover. They seem to be wearing very well; I didnt realize I had driven 6000 miles on them until I checked my maintenance records. Compared to the (nearly bald) Yokohama A028s that they replaced, the sidewalls seemed to be a bit softer at first. It could be that the car has more grip, and this is causing the body to roll more during hard cornering. The max inflation pressure is very high, Ive been seen improved steering response by inflating them to about 5-10 psi higher than Mazdas recommended pressures. Another thing; these tires are very quiet when they are spinning, Ive been told it has something to do with the silicate compound that theyre made of. The tread pattern is not overly agressive-looking, and I like that also. -- Review Submitted 2005-02-09
