for all those getting aftermarket wheels, expecially cali residents that don't need snow wheels, keep my name handy if you want to get rid of your stock 18"

depending on what you plan to do with the car, i would look into getting different tires for the 8. the Spec 2s are better than the previous version, but it will not provide the proper grip in both wet and dry.

you don't wanna sacrifice the great handling that comes with the car with the wrong tire. don't ask me how i know....

volk racing wheels is excellent, they use them on a lot of the high end vehicles that are compete in the Japanese circuit. they are expensive but high quality. only problem with going 19" and larger is that the tires are expensive, in limited selection, and wear out fairly fast. Personally as far as tires go, I have little experience with riding on different tires, but I do know you get what you pay for. I currently have 215/35/19 Pirelli P7000s and would DEFINATELY reconmend them or get them again. Run flat technology is awesome - got a flat at school and it was fine to drive on for like 2 days without damaging the rim. at 10 psi it was fine. incredible tire technology and research is behind pirelli tires - that is why they use it in the WRC. also p7000 provides excellent traction in wet, and dry conditions. excellent tires.

as far as rims go, I really dont care if they are light or whatever, its all about the look. I am an artist so its my thing to like beautiful objects HRE wheels are custom forged to the customers' specifications and painted, etc. with meticulous care and quality. they are light also, but extremely beautiful and even the finest automobiles require the finest rims, HRE. for $1000+ a rim without tires... they better be!

check out my photoshopped pics of HRE wheels and Racing Harts on the 8, in the other aftermarket rim thread.

those Advans are classy. those would look especially nice on the Winning Blue. or on my blue miata too.

LightEmUp, in the words of Ferris Bueller..."it is sooo choice"

Wow, the factory "polished" rims look really nice. How much more do they weigh over the standard stock rims? Anybody, bueller, bueller?

Also, is that a lower profile (height) tire?

no I believe the chrome picture on the red rx8 is stock chrome option rims that are available in japan. They look similar to ZAUBER wheels - specifically the "Gettin" Model in chrome

So what is the difference between the rims shown in the picture above and the what is stated as "polished 18' rimes" in the Dealers Accessorie Brochure?

Are you saying are three type of stock rims for the 8.

Standard Rims
Polished Rims
And what you call "Chrome" in the picture above, which you say is only available in Japan?

Anybody have a picture of the "polished rims" we can buy or is it the same thing as what is shown in the picture?

Thanks!

So, the RX-8 technical highlights CD says you can not use aftermarket wheels because of the Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors. If you do, the TPMS will be in constant alert. And yes, I have seen the picutures of other rims on the Japanese cars. But I believe someone pointed out they do not have TPMS.

Guys i just found out they're RacingHart CX 19"

These wheels havnt been officially released yet. The RX-8 pic was used as a teaser to drum up interest in whether or not they'd b manfucatured.

I hope they will b released asap. They suit the silver RX8 perfectly!
