Aftermarket Brake Rotors

With the exception of Big Brake Kits, which rotors can I get that the pads will contact the entire disc surface area? It seams like every set I see, the pad doesn't cover the entire surface area like the OEM ones do and they end up with a rust ring on them.

hmmm... never heard of one. I have EBC rotors and the entire rotor surface was coated. this prevents the rust ring that you normally find on stock rotors. or you can just paint that area and call it good

On the OEM ones, the pads make contact all the way to the edge of the rotor surface. And then the hub is what rusts on those if you don't paint them. I'm talking about on the drilled or slotted ones where you still have part of the rotor surface which is drilled or slotted and the pad doesn't make contact with. Are you saying I should paint that portion of the rotor?

look closer. The oem pads do not touch all around. On the rear rotor there is almost an inch near the center that isn't used for braking. On the front it's about a half inch. On my oem rotors I painted that area, on my slotted rotors, painting that area would also mean painting into the slotted area, which I don't like to do.

the slotted/drilled parts of my racing brake rotors are already black, so theres no need to paint inside there.

Exactly my point. The "non surface area" of the OEM ones are extended out to the point where the pad's make contact with the rotors. I have that painted as well and they look good. But, every set of aftermarket ones I've seen don't have that extension so rust get's in the slots and/or holes and leaves a rust ring between where the pads make contact and area of the hub that can be painted. I'd like to find a set where that doesn't happen or maybe just get a set of OEM ones slotted at a machine shop.
