225/45-R18 or 235/40-R18
Hi all,
Well as it is known every stock RX-8 with 18inc Rims comes with 225/45-R18. However, a version available at Germany, Greece and some other countries comes with 235/40-R18 and different design rims but 8JJ.
I guess that 225/45-R18 is similar to 235/40-R18 but also have some differences.
Which one do you think is most appropriate for RX-8. I would go for the well know stock 225/45-R18 and I do not know the reason why the dealer in Germany or some other countries fit 235/40-R18 to a specific version of RX-8.
Do you think that 225/45-R18 may have an advantage over 235/40-R18 ????

In order to help you more in the photo below you can see the RX-8 version with
235/40-R18 which is called Revolution compared to Cosmo the stock 6 Manual 231 with 225/45-R18 and challenge the stock 192 5T manual with the same tires (225/45-R18)
Do you see any disadvantage of 235/40-R18 compared to 225/45-R18???

Not sure what you are on about, but:
235 has slightly higher reading than you actually travels. e.g. it may read 102mph but you're travelling at 100mph.
235 fits better in a 8" rim than 225 in most brands of tyres.
235 is smaller and your car looks lower (well it is actually lowered).
235 has a bigger foot print.
235 may have more choices of tyres makes and pattern in your country (well at least 235 is more common in Australia than 225).

Well my question is:
Will an RX-8 with 225/45-R18 perform in a drag race slightly BETTER than an RX-8 with 235/40-R18??? (other things being equal)
I am talking even for very small differences !
