Smile 225/35/r18

Ok i was using the robrechts miata tire chart and i was messing around with tires size and keeping in mind our stock tire are 225/45/r18. I was looking to get Low profile tires with a much smaller SideWall and i came up with 225/35/r18 but the chart tell me this might actually mess up the Speedo Reading? is this accurate if so is there a way to fix that? i dont know much about tires so let me know maybe a recalabration dunno.

Thx Guys/Girls

Yes, it messes with the speed-o, as the tires are thinner.

Search around the sticky "will it fit thread". That should answer your question

ok Here is my question i dont care if these are real close to stock. i just want better looking wheels i want :

18" x 8"
bolt pattern: 5/108 & 5/114.3
offset: 40

Will this fit on the rx8 what problems may i incounter.
i was told this setup is a bit wider then stock not sure if thats true.
please inform me and dont say you should go wider or bigger.

this is the biggest i can go because i aint going to 20'

all other size are:

16" x 7" 4/100 & 4/114.3 42 offset
16" x 7" 5/100 & 5/114.3 42 offset
16" x 7" 5/112 & 5/120 42 offset
18" x 8" 5/114.3 & 5/120 20 offset
18" x 8" 5/112 & 5/120 40 offset
18" x 8" 5/110 & 5/115 40 offset
18" x 8" 5/108 & 5/114.3 40 offset
20" x 8.5" 5/114.3 & 5/120 20 offset
20" x 8.5" 5/114.3 & 5/120 40 offset
20" x 8.5" 5/112 & 5/115 40 offset

i just need to know WILL IT FIT and will i get problems?

Your stocks are 18 x 8 + 50. Your bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3.

So 18 x 8 + 40 will fit fine. 18 x 8 + 20 is gonna be aggressive (way out to the outside of the car). The rim is not wider, the offset just sets the tire out closer to the edge. I'm not certain, but you might be close to having to roll your fenders at that setup. Either way, you need to stick with the 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern.

As far as you earlier question on the tire, a change in sidewall height is going to affect your speedo. To not affect it, you should look to keep you overall tire diameter similar to stock. This would mean increasing wheel diameter if you want to reduce sidewall height to keep an overall similar diameter.

Given your list above, if your goal is to reduce sidewall height, the 20 x 8.5 + 40 with 5 x 114.3 is gonna be your best bet. A 245/30 20 tire on that rim should keep you pretty close to your original diameter.

HTH.
