This is an open string to all car types. I do this in all of my forums as a general overview of what you guy's are driving on, and what you think of that tire. Please, when making a post try not to list any questions in the post. This is for informational puposes that everyone can use. Also try not to comment on anyone else's post. this is simply for people to voice their opinoin on what they are driving on. Some idea's on what to comment on are dry and wet traction, dry and wet handling, noise level, ride comfort, tread life, any problems with the tire. You also might want to include what type of driver you are (average, spirited, aggressive, track racer) and the conditions that are common for your area.

I have an 84 Porsche 944 turbo. I am a very aggressive driver and auto crosser. I am currently running 225/45/17 Yokohama ES100's. they start off fairly quiet but as they wear they tend to develope a little more road noise. dry traction is very good, wet traction is great. I normally only drive the car in nicer weather but i do take it out in the rain occassionally. It is never driven in the snow. I have around 18,000 on this set and have had two other sets of the same size and model on this car. I am in northern Indiana which is mostly flat land with all typed of weather conditions ranging from 100 degree heat to 15 and 20 below zero in the winter time.

i am very happy with them and for the type of driver i am, i have no complaints.

 

'04 RX8 Running on 245x45x18 Potenza S-03 Rubber...... Yummy in the dry, crappy in the wet. These tires are so sticky, I pulled a .97 (with stock RE040 I pulled .90)
Thats with RB sway bars and endlinks.

I bought the Toyo T1S 245/40/18 all the way around and I love them. In my opinion it is a much better tire than the stock RE40. Just this month I went out to Willow Springs Raceway in So. cali and the tire handled great all day long. The stock tire seemed to "roll over" on itself. This did not happen at all with my Toyo's... They handled great all day long even in the sweltering heat. Since I live in So. Cali I really cant comment on the wet handling characteristics of the tire yet. I would definitely recommend this tire to everyone.

 

'94 Miata, with CSP-ish suspension:
- 195-50-15 Toyo T1-S on 15x7s. Nice tire, great grip, comfortable, but slow turn in. Not for me

- 205-50-15 Falken Azenis. Fantastic tire. A little heavy, but I can forgive that. Great turn-in, fantastic grip, progressive at the limit, and liveable in everything short of snow & ice. Driven year round in the Pacific NW - no hydroplaning issues. My fav street tire so far, but I like my Miata responsive!

-205-50-15 Toyo RA-1s. Current tire. Absolutely amazing tire, but turn-in still a little softer than the Azenis. Overkill for the street. Great on the track. I like these because I can show up at a track day, an autocross, or take a spirted canyon drive and the tire is tons of fun (and fast) in all three venues. To bad it's not competitive in the upper echelons of autocrossing.

- OEM Bridgestones on the RX-8. Nothing bad to say here at all, except for the replacement cost.

 

275/40 & 245/45 YR17 Kumho MX tires.
I use these daily and purchased them for Street Touring Class AutoX. Wet traction is still decent, Dry traction is amazing...
3k miles on them including one track and 4 autoX events and still plenty of rubber
not too loud either :D

Impressions:
Street:
- Tires are plenty sticky for agressive street driving.
- Good in the rain.
- Not an all-season tire so I won't comment on snow.
- Seem to wearing very good for a UTQG 140 tire.
- Noise would be my only complaint.
Autocross:
- Good (not great) traction when cool.
- When the tires got a little hot they turn to grease.

I will definately replace them in the spring with either Kumho MX's, the New Falken Azenis Sports or Hankook Z212s. That's if we ever really see the new Azenis and Z212.

I'm running a BFG g-force T/A KDW2 245/40/18

I have a VERY aggressive driving style, and I autox the car once a month. 10000 miles and 2 autox's after purchasing tires I am COMPLETELY satisfied, and plan on buying another set when these are done. These tires have amazing dry traction. As a novice autox'er I'm still quite close to the pace of the experienced drivers on slicks and r-compound, and I think it has a lot to do with this tire. The wet traction is very good. Awesome tire for the money.

 

2004 RX8 w/ RB Sway Bars (F/R), RB Front Sway Bar Endlinks, RB Springs, MS Front Shock Tower Bar :

Current stock Bridgestone RE040 - After getting the suspension work done you can definitely feel that the tires is the weak point (in terms of traction & handling) of this car now. In corners you can feel it slide, while the rest of the car remains pretty settled. I have about 3K miles on them so far) I will be replacing them when they wear out with 245/40/18's with probably Michelin PS2's or BF Goodrich Comp TA KD's. I am an aggressive street driver, the conditions out here are dry as a bone so no need for all season tires.


Previous car was a 2001 911 Carrera w/ factory stage 1 sports suspension. Had factory Continental Sport Contact which were not good tires for anything. Got the Pirelli P Zero Rossos which were much better in terms of traction, road noise, tire life. Pretty much better across the board. Though I hear the Sport Contact 2's are much better than the previous generation.
