what is this??? wont rev past 3k!

i was on the freeway and suddenly lost power!
when i would try to rev the engine it would slowly rev to 3k then bounce like a rev limiter......????
i did the brake thing to reset the computer and it seems to fix it. this has happened 3 times already. i dont wanna take it to the dealer just yet cuz they will probly void my warranty. anybody know whats goin on????
i took a quick vid with my phone....

I noticed your CEL is on as well. Find out what fault code is stored, that will get you started.

Put your stock parts back on, take the car to the dealer.

Why did you disable the DSC/TSC ?

You're having MT. when was the last time yoiu've been to a dealer.

And also, they CANNOT void your warranty , but they can report you for having catless pipe. Which is a federal offence.

Tell us more details, when did the CEL came on, what were you doing before the CEL came on ? what were you doing right before your car wont be able to rev past 3K rpm.

Going on freeway suddenly lost power sounds like a .... engine replacement. Which oil do you use ? I mean engine oil. weight ?

What gas you're using ? brand, grade.

we need more information.

Did you pull the battery plug , let it seat for 5 minutes, and connect it back on see what happens ?

the cel came on when i took out the cat so if there is another code i wouldent know about it....

ok so im just ridin 6th gear about 60mph. i give it gas to pick up a lil and it slows down.... i pull over and rev the engine and it slowly revs to 3k like the vid shows....
to temporarily fix the problem i turn the car off, put the key in the on position and push the brake 20 times fast. this resets the computer and it goes back to normal... doesnt this sound more like a ecm problem???

dude put your cat back on and get the recall done before you hurt yourself or someone else!! YOu may need a new engine better to get one now then have your engine blow at 90 mph and then have you panic and kill yourself

You need to get the recall performed..

Swap to stock and take it in, youll probably end up with a new engine...

You know, I hate pollution control stuff as much as the next guy until.....

I visit some place outside the U.S. where they don't have strict pollution controls. It stinks!, my eyes burn, etc.

Show a little social conscience and leave the pollution control stuff hooked up. Your kids will thank you.

Flame away.

no,
after the motor cools and restarts it will run just fine.. until you hit the right conditions again...

that is why it took so long to find the problem.. dropped mine off for a new motor this afternoon...

Agreed.

If you have to do something get a high flow cat. Your emissions will be worse but at least wont be nearly as bad as a cat delete.

Get the CEL checked, find out what code is stored. If there is a problem with the metering oil pump it will set a code. You dont want to drive around with a potential problem like that. The code stored will be a p1687 of p1688 is the MOP is suspect.
