What is this thing called?

The little elbow connector with the green clip that attaches to the fuel pump, I believe when I replace it I have to replace that whole line. I've seen it called the "quick release fuel line" as well as the "quick connect fuel line" but I want to know what it's called officially so when I call Mazda on Monday I'm not fumbling around trying to describe it and make it easier to try to find it at a wholesaler.

Thanks!

On a side note, after I've replaced the line and with the battery disconnected of course. Do you think it would be safe to go to town with some purple stuff to clean it up? Maybe just cover the fuel pump?

Just put quality worm gear clamp on it and snug it up.

^ Pretty much that.

Both of the little O-ring seals in mine were torn, so I just chopped off the head and connected it with some barbed fittings and injector hose. Quarter inch I believe. Don't know the exact dimensions of the hose but presumably it's metric.

PIPE for 2006 Mazda RX-8|F1514261X

is this the correct part? Mazda said $255. In the diagram it's #19. I'm not a 100% on this and the Mazda parts rep didn't sound very confident about it either.
Part# F1514261X

oh yay some replies! So it's safe to chop the head off and just put a rubber hose and some clamps on it? Because that would be awesome. lol

The weird thing is that the seals inside of the little quick connector look fine and The little output tube from the fuel pump is in perfect shape too but it still leaks.

Chances are it's not in perfect shape. Look on the underside of the nipple; It may be very slightly cracked. Take a small cosmetic mirror or something similar to peek at it since it's pretty hard to see mounted in the car.

It doesn't look like much but pressurized it can leak some pretty significant gas. I cracked mine without realizing it just from banging on the retaining ring a few times trying to (unsuccessfully) get to the fuel pump. It may not be the culprit, but as a cautionary tale, I just went through the same thing... assumed it was the line, spent a lot of time fixing that and it still leaked; It even looked like it was dripping off the bottom of the line. I suppose it's just where it was collecting before gravity took over.

If it is indeed the line, then yeah the "right" thing to do would be replace the OEM line/connector. I have no idea how involved or time consuming running the whole line would be but I'd assume very. With a utility knife, some barbed fittings, and some hose with clamps you can make a pretty solid connection for 10 bucks.

I appreciate the replies! Very helpful!

I didn't use a mirror but I did use my smart phone to take a pictures of it. I also used it to inspect the line and where it routes. It doesn't look like something that'll be simple without a lift or a safe place to put it on jack stands so I can get underneath it. I'll re-inspect it again just to be 100% sure but I think I'm gonna go your route, girth and just lop the head off and clamp a new hose on it, at least for now.

Good luck man. I think I used 5/16ths hose to fit on the outlet nipple.
