i got my car back today after the dealership threw in a rebuilt engine for me under warranty. everythings fine and but.... when i get outta the car while its running, i hear this semi-loud pitch tone i'd say.... any ideas? i dont htink its the belt but not sure. its not a squeaking sound =/. so... i'm gonna get a bar of soap and rub it under the belt to see if it is the belt but i highly doubt its that. any ideas would be awesome.

 

Any chance the noise is coming from the tranny instead of the engine compartment?

 

Why ask us? Just take it back.
Real hard to quantfy noises over the internet.

 

The day after I got my second engine (on my '04 auto) I got a low-pitched chattering sound from my engine especially below 3,000 rpm, below 40 mph and louder under load. I took it back in about 10 days ago.

I am worried that a lot of second (reman) engines are defective.
