okay so I bought this rx8 from a member, he had the maps and cobb accessport that he bought from MM.. he had the maps installed in his car,so he told me to get the AP so I can upload the maps back on the AP. So he send me the.maps but I tried to upload them into the cobb accessport but they were blank it wouldn't let me use them, does that mean that I will have to buy the custom calibration again?

 

That owner screwed you.

With his AP married to your 8 with those maps, you will not be able to use any other AP to download or upload maps. He needs to uninstall his AP so that you can install yours. And at that point you won't have the custom maps, so will need to buy the calibration.

A set of calibration maps from MM is licensed to 1 owner for 1 AP for 1 car. If the car changes hands the license does not go with it. If you bought his AP, then you could still use that AP with your car fine, though a retune means a repurchase.

His AP is also worthless now, since his AP has your car as it's mate, and he won't be able to get it to mate to any other car.

You really need to get in touch with him.

I bought a used Cobb right , I have the it installed and at the moment im using the fuel economy map bcs I travel . He unmarried the Cobb, so my question is if I buy the custom calibration from MM itll work with the used Cobb that I bought ? Would I be able to upload their maps to my used Cobb??

No, you can't use his maps from MM, because they are specific to the AP he had.

Yes, if you buy the calibration service it will work with the AP you bought.

 

Okai very good , I was asking this because I did not.want to waste money for the calibration and it wouldnt work on the Cobb. Thanks for clearing things for me .

 

Almost forgot something is MM the only carriers of maps for rx8 .. Or theres better tune maps out there?
