ok, so new engine, flywheel, rear o2 sensor and cat are in. Service rep now telling me FRONT o2 sensor fail. My question is, shouldn't I be covered under federal emissions warranty? If that's the case, shouldn't and will Mazda reimburse me for the o2 sensor that I already bought? (bought from Mazmart)

***Nevermind, I just answered my own question. NOT covered. even called MNAO to confirm it.**** F My Life

ok, so after upper / lower o2 sensors, new catalytic converter, engine replacement, full diagnosis pointing is now pointing to MAF sensor. Dealer wanted $200 for that, Mazmart = $90, thanks again Sheldon! Stealership says that they tested to make sure that its the MAF only causing issues as they have some spares laying around for testing purposes. I just wish they coulda done the same with the o2 sensor

Thank you for the link. I knew that the catalytic convertor was covered; but I didn't know that the PCM was, so that was very helpful. I know of at least one person whose PCM failed, and I don't know if the dealer replaced it under warranty or not; but it's good to know, in case I run into the same problem.

After a week of driving I started having issues with the power steering, then finally last nite it was LOCKED. I figured it was the EPS harness, but those were replaced and super clean already. I looked down by the power steering linkage and noticed that the AC compressor mounting bolt was missing, the other was loose enough to rattle its way into the steering linkage and prevent the wheel from turning.

I took it back to the dealer and asked them what else did they forget to tighten?

Hot start issues, rough idle, loss of power

I have an 04 Rx8 MT. Like lots of people here I am also having hot start issues. Usually starts fine during cold winter months unless I've been driving a lot in one day. On a warm day I have to crank it for a lot longer than normal and then it starts with some difficulty. Will idle rough on warm days. Loss of power and rattling on acceleration which I can sometimes get to resolve if I take it to redline under WOT.
I took it to a dealership last summer because the power loss was pretty significant. They performed the TSB to see if I needed a new engine and they said everything was fine and they just needed to perform a de-carb. It seemed to help for a short time but I find it hard to believe that carbon build up was the problem. I could understand if I never took it to redline but I do on average a couple times a week. I only have about 3000 more miles until the mazda warranty runs out for a new motor but from what I've read is seems that a new motor may be necessary. Please help!

Any suggestions as to what could be causing these problems would be helpful. I might be taking back to dealership for them to test again....

I had to tow my car to mazda after my crank pulley fell of on the highway. Mazda changed the pulley and the car ran. I had them check why the cel light was on and I was having hot start issues only. That was Thursday and its now Tuesday. They said they had to do a power zoom service due to low compression. I want my car back lol. I feel like I'm getting the run around. The other problem is that I have receipts of oil and filters I have purchased at the correct mileage intervals but I fear they'll say I did the oil changes incorrectly. Does anyone think this will be an issue?
