Arrow Troubles with emission testing

Has anyone had problems getting their cars tested for emissions?

Took my '04 in today for its first-ever test and the testing place could not get the equipment to work right with the car. Their RPM readings were all over the place.

Called the dealer to ask if they could do it or if they had a preferred place and was told 'no' on both counts. Further, they mentioned hearing of similar problems on other '04s!

Here in Georgia, cars aren't tested for the first 2 years...so the 2004's are just coming up for testing. And I, with a January 16th registration date, gets to be one of the first of the first!

STOP THE PROCESS NOW!!!on all rx8 it is not needed to run the car at all for the emissions if your e-guy knows anything at all about the rx8 it is not needed to check r.p.m. or anything running on the car all he needs to do is plug up the dinostic adapter to the car (under the dash)with the key in the run position and the rest is recorded and e-mailed to d.m.v.for your results of the test.

I saw another thread about Ga. It said the state computer is wrong and told how to get past the problem. Do not remember the thread so ( I hate to say this ) , do a search. The thread is in the discussion section and was started by you, so I guess you have your answer.

Yeah, I just had mine done last month. All they did was hook up to the computer. I was in and out within 5 mins!

So all they do is download the OBD2 scan data without running the engine?

No CEL = Pass?

In NYS computer theres an option for Rotary Engine. Its right at the screen where it ask you to put in the Cyclinder number (Press R for Rotary)

Then its going to prompt you to do the rest.

My emissions testing took more than 5 minutes. During it, the hood was open, and something was making loud spinning noises, modulating in frequency range from lower to higher pitched, cycled several times, perhaps 30 seconds per cycle.

Not sure if that was the engine, it sounded too loud to be it.
