Trouble shooting stereo

Trouble shooting stereo
My wife's 09 RX8 with Bose system is not playing any sound.
For roughly a month the stereo was making loud random popping sounds until finally no sound will emitt.
I have not checked the fuses yet, I am working night shift and can't check until tomorrow, even if it was a fuse there is a different problem from the popping sound.
The car is no longer under warranty. Bought in July of 08... Dammit.
I am leaning towards a blown amp. If the amp in the truck was to blow can I expect no sound out of any of the speakers? Any way to really test this?

Just checked the fuses and connections to the amp. Everything looked good. I plan to start hunting around for a used amp.
Has anyone else had this issue or experience and confirm its most likely the amp?

The only way to confirm it will be to replace it, or if you want you could remove it and test it with a volt meter.
I have 3 car amps sitting in my garage I have to do this to as well. It can be very very time consuming. You may get lucky and be able to spot a burnt part inside without further testing. http://www.ehow.com/how_7832227_fix-...amplifier.html I would ignore where they say to test it in the car, and maybe buy a nice 12v power supply, or rig up a computer power supply to give the amp power off the 12v rail/plug.
There is also some DIY posted around here about fixing the bose system, but that may not be your problem.

Thanks for the tips. I pulled it out and inspected for any obvious issues and found none. I might take it took work and try and trouble shoot the board. I think I will need a fairly detailed schematic to figure anything out.
