I've removed the rear struts on my RX8 many times. Whether chasing my STX setup for autocrossing or switching back and forth form the stock pieces, I know the process. I've made many mistakes along the way (I broke my nose once), but I have the procedure down to about 2.5 hours to remove and replace all four.

But now I'm stuck. The rear struts are totally stuck on the rear hubs. I cannot remove them from the spindle they attach to. The bolt comes off, but no amount of force pulls them off.

Unless anybody has a brilliant idea, at this point I'll likely damage or destroy the bushings in the process of removing the stock struts. I can get these off, oh yes. But they're not coming off gently at this point.

 

I usually jack up the hub assembly a bit to relieve some pressure but your situation sounds like its beyond that. Maybe try jacking it up and tapping it with a 5 lb sledge
