Transmission Woes

New to RX-8's and already stumped. Have a 2004 with Manual trans. Guy said he replaced clutch just before I bought it. Ran great for a few hundred miles and out of nowhere it won't go into any gears....suspected clutch right...found evidence of transmission fliud from the drivers side of the tail housing back. The fluid looks like it is coming out of a boss just aft of the neutral switch on the tail housing side. The boss is drilled but not tapped, so I think a bolt must have come out and whatever the bolt threaded into shifted or dropped.

Has anybody run into this and how do you fix it without blowing the transmission apart...

Picture?

And I assume by boss you mean bolt? If so...the drain plug is huge...like...22mm if I remember right.

That would suck if your gear oil drained. Check level. Do you have resistance in the clutch pedal?

No, it is actually a boss cast into the side of the tail housing on the drivers side. It is up high just behind the neutral sensor. It is not tapped or threaded. I know where the drain and fill ports are and they are ok, this is forward of the shifter about 10 inches or so

Yeah I have clutch pedal...I thought maybe the slave cylinder went until I climbed under and saw where the fluid came from. I think the level is low but still had plenty in the transmission. This bolt level is so high on the case I'm suprized that so much came out,

Nope... its just a bolt.
The fill plug in on the "center section" of the transmission, basically in the center of that section.

The fill plug is further forward and lower (about midway) on the side of the case. The boss where the bolt goes is clean drilled and spot faced with no threads at all. Evidence of a bolt being there at one time and no evidence of pulled threads out of the hole. So I think that the bolt must go thru the hole and I think it must thread into Item #17-45Z in the PDF diagram and I am guessing it is a support for the rail or rod Item #17-540....

Does anybody have or know where I can get the transmission shop manual? I have the regular shop manual but it is very limited on the transmission section...for something like this anyway
