Alright guys im having some transmission problems.

For the last week i felt like my transmission was getting a little louder but I wasnt sure so I let it go thinking it was nothing. It had a real notchy sound especially when going into reverse. I did notice it seemed like it was a little harder shifting smoothly in between gears.

Yesterday I took the car to the gas station and when I started it up to coe back home the transmission was very loud and making some sounds like gears rubbing or metal on metal stuff, almost sounded like something was in there just tumbling around. Well I drove it home slowly and it was fine no popping out of gear or anything like that. Once I got home I shut the car off outside to see if I noticed anything strange but there was nothing I could physically see. I started the car back up and tried putting it in first to go into the garage and it wouldnt go. not into any gear for that matter. So I shut it back off and pushed it up into first with the car off. The car started moving itself without even releasing the clutch.

Today I went out to check out the car and see how it was so I started it up in nuetral let it run for a bit and went to see if it would go in gear. No suprise it still wouldnt. I shut it off but then later tried starting it while it was in reverse to back it out of the garage so i could get it towed to a mazda dealer. Well it backed up a little bit but never started. I then put it in nuetral to try and start it and now all im getting is a clicking sound.

So im wondering if anyone has some idea what my transmission/clutch problems are and also did I mess up my starter by doing what I did?

I see no leaking fluids
Clutch Bracket is fine
Also never seemed to have problems before with slipping or anything
Clutch was apparently put in by mazda about 12,000 miles ago
Clutch pedal still has good pressure and feels normal.

Thanks for any help or insight anyone may have. Im most likely getting the car towed to mazda soon to see what they say but Id like to know as much about my situation as I can.

Any ideas guys? Thinking about just going to a transmission shop instead of Mazda.
