Transmission Leak

There's a leak somewhere on top of my transmission near the driver side (left side). I've lost almost one quart of fluid. My CEL is on and shows code P0850, which is for the park/neutral switch. I believe the neutral switch is located near the leak as well. Is it common for neutral switch to malfunction & leak? Is the fluid likely to leak out of it considering the fluid level is 3-4 inches below it (when disengaged)?

I will remove the console and shifter seal to have a better look on top of the transmission and also to make sure that the shifter gasket isn't leaking. What's the best way to replace the neutral switch? Can it be done from console or do I need to lift the car?

The old switch was cracked at the base of the threaded portion and had a leak where the wires come out. This was causing some fluid loss (very minor) in my transmission, so I essentially fixed two problems at once.
