AT Transmission issue? Want to know if it has happened to anyone else

4 port AT transmission (replaced at 35000 now the car has 62000 on it) is deciding not to shift in M mode especially at higher rpms causing me to over rev. I would normally say that there is nothing out of the norm with the tranny and that it was just not built to handle the car ( we all know) but the problem is happening more frequently. I will shift at about 40 mph and the car will not react ..... best word to describe it would be that it catapults itself to 52 mph and then it will shift (the cars redline is about 45 mph). I find myself constantly having to let off the gas while I shift in order to refrain from over revving. The Tranny fluid was changed less then 5000 miles ago. I have also tried resetting the Computers to see if that would help.
I would go back to Mazda but I am now out of warranty.

I have looked through the service booklet to troubleshoot but have found little luck so I turned to the club. However google has populated the search with everything in the world that has to do with rx8 transmission and rx8 club ( like trying to find a needle in a hay stack) I have found none with that specific situation.

Maybe you all have had better luck with the search option then I have or have had the issue yourself.

I'm starting to think my transmission is unavoidably dyeing.

Any help is appreciated
thanks...

Once you hit the fuel shutoff point (red line) it will lag really bad before it shifts. You have to time it so that it actually shifts right before it red lines. If I could fix one thing about the AT version it would be a quicker shift (up and down).

Yeah thanks for the fast reply
I've always sensed there was a lag but this has gotten a lot worse just recently. I have had it for 8 years sometimes the thing will even upshift when I downshift..... (shift down to 2nd and it upshifts to 3rd)..... makes me believe there is an electrical fault or something.
