Transmission or Clutch noise

I made a research. Seems like people have this problem pretty often on 2004 RX8 MT, but didn't find what cause such problem.

When the clutch is released I hear some weird noise. No matter if the car is warm or not. I push the clutch and sound disappears. Also when I am driving the car sounds the same on 1-5 gears. On the 6th it's different. I hear additional noise(similar to electric engine) I have a feeling that I have a transmission problem.

I drive the car for 8 month and made near 10k miles. It's the first car I must take care of all by myself so I don't have experience. I never changed transmission oil... How often should I do that and can it be a solution for the noise?

Sorry guys if there was a thread about it but I spend like 2 hours reading all around the forum and didn't find it.

Does it sound like a noisy-unlubed mouse wheel?

YES! And I am worrying. I have extended warranty on it, so will go to fix it but unfortunately have no time this week. And I am not sure if it's ok that I drive it like that. Do you know what can cause this issue?

If you had done the research like you claimed, you'd have discovered that it is normal transmission noise

The one behind the clutch, some call it the release bearing. Here's a cellphone video clip I took two weeks before mine broke into pieces which made my transmission sound like it had marbles.

Be careful to distinguish the normal whiny metal noise it makes and something else.

....Or I HOPE that's normal lol. Mine makes a noise too in certain gears.

If you can't differentiate normal transmission noise to abnormal then just take it in to the dealership. When your just sitting it will sound funny and when you press the clutch it will sound smoother.

If you can hear your transmission from 5th to 6th maybe you should drive a little faster

I was checking 5th and 6th gears on 4-5k RPMs. So I think it's enough. Sound is really different. WIll take it this week for testing. Inside the car sound is not very loud but if you open the window and just release clutch - it's enough loud to worry.

Mine didn't sound like that, the video I linked is a poor quality from my cellphone camera. And yes, it was my throw out bearing that was making the cyclical metal noise that goes away once the clutch is depressed. It finally broke after almost two months of hearing noise, I wish I had taken a picture because the bearing was in pieces all throughout the transmission and everything else was intact; the clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing ,and the throw out bearing all came as one in a box.

But, take it to a professional, as "Pdub8" suggested, if you can't pinpoint the noise.

I went yesterday to check and their engineer told me to change trans oil and to check if sound will become smoother. If yes it's 100% trans problem and they will be working on it. He just told me that he don't want to remove everything to look on throwout bearing and it will be not the point of the problem. Actually he told the car is awesome with that. Just 3.5 hours of work to replace the whole clutch. Very cheap and quick comparing to another cars)

Grace Excel. You said noise disappears when clutch is depressed??? My noise disappears when I press the clutch....
