TPMS trouble

I have had a flashing TPMS light on the dash intermittently (usually after some highway driving) for a few months now. I know one of my monitors is FUBARed, but which one?

My mechanic gave me a printout with the error code- "U2616 Wheel Unit 1 is not responding".

Looked up U2616 in the service manual but no definition of Wheel Unit 1. Anyone know which wheel is Unit 1? Trying to save a trip to the mechanic. Thanks in advance.

First check your tire pressures first thing in the morning and see if all the tires are at 32 psi. Then adjust accordingly. And if still after that you have the error code then one of the sensors is bad. They should last 10yr or 100k miles. Next step after that is to find which one is bad. Each sensor would have to be tested.

yeah, pressures are the first thing I checked. All ok. The flashing MIL signifies a system error. If it were just pressure, the MIL would be on solid.

And dont think the monitors will last ten years. This is the second one that has gone bad in 4 years.

Wow so bad luck with the tpms. Mine are still good. Bought the car in 03 and have 81k miles on it with no issues with the tpms

wow, that's kind of interesting. I wonder if this is accurate?

U2616 Left Front Tire Pressure Sensor is Not Responding
U2617 Right Front Tire Pressure Sensor is Not Responding
U2618 Left Rear Tire Pressure Sensor is Not Responding
U2619 Right Rear Tire Pressure Sensor is Not Responding

One way to find out I suppose!
