Took the car to Mazda

.. To get my sparks, battery, starter and fogged passenger tail light replaced. I've been having some rough starts lately, I checked the plugs and they are clearly fouled. Just the other day my car wouldn't crank. It made no attempt to do so, kind of like trying to start the car without the clutch.. so I figured that the starter was shot. Called Road Side Assitance and after waiting about 2 hours, I decided to figure out the problem my self. I had my friend who came to pick me up get in the car and keep the car in the on the position, just like you would to turn the car on. I got underneath the drivers side, took a long screw driver and hit the starter a couple of times. What do you know.. it started right up. Called and cancelled the towing. I drove the car to the dealership today. Luckily for me I know 2 of the mechanics and the service manager at Mazda otherwise I wouldn't be able to get anything done without voiding my warranty. Word of advice, Mazda Road Side is terrible.. there slow as ****! If I kept waiting I might have been there for another 2 hours.. they claim to be free but will charge you when your car makes it to the dealership, they'll just add it to your invoice - at least what I was told by my friend at Open Road Mazda.

Sorry I'm just venting, NJ has been getting rain up the *** for the past week so I have nothing better to do.

So yeah, just got the car back and let me tell you.. what a huge difference the starter, battery and sparks make. Not to mention the Royal Purple 5W30 I just put in.. I've had been using Royal Purple since I got the car, and just recently I took the car to the shop while I was doing the turbo installation, I had to flush it out and use non-synthetic Castrol 5W30 because the store I get my RP from was closed. Apparantly Royal Purple makes a HUGE! difference in the way the engine performs, especially on turbo'd engines. Just a note, I switched from RP 5W20 to 5W30.

Hey Bart, I had the exact same issues as u. When I got the new strater, the difference was amazing, but as the weeks passed I find myself still having sum rough starts. Lemme know in the next few weeks if u notice this too. I cleaned my plugs and even put colder densos in, which would make it a tiny bit tougher to start since colder plugs will do that. Anyway, keep me updated if u could. Thanks.

Ewwww densos?? haha.. Yeah the way the car starts is incredible, like a jet engine except it doesn't wind up really long. I'll let you know if it gets worse, hopefully it won't

Let me preface my post by saying that the fix is preventive at best, not a real solution unfortunately. Had the updated plugs/starter/battery done last year from previous flooding. The car had a flooding issue again just now, also sitting at Open Road in East Brunswick. My Roadside Assistance experience was vastly different from yours.

The flatbed show up within 20 mins of calling and the driver was courteous and helpful. It all depends on the time the request is put in and if there is any towing truck nearby.

Who was your service manager at Open Road? Matt or Joe?

It was nice of you to call and cancel the tow. I don't know if I would have been that courteous at that point. Lol... "what do you mean you couldn't find me?"
