Temperature **** Question

I have noticed with my temp **** for the A/C, heat that if I twist it from cold to hot or hot to cold it does nothing unless I put a good amount of pressure on the ****. When I mean apply pressure, I mean put in on it towards the front of the car and turn at the same time. This tells me that it still works, but something is not right with the ****. I know there is a spring inside it, can it be adjusted? I don't have time to go to the dealer if there is something simple I can do to fix it. Thanks for any help.

i had the same problem and had to go to the dealer, i actually got under the dash and noticed that the whole feature is motorized, so its more that just a faulty spring or ****. I believe it might actually be a recall, i'll find out.

edit: i actually had this TSB done, the **** fell off do to me pressing it in to register hot or cold.

Thanks, dillsrotary, but I have already had the amp replaced for that TSB. It actually changes temp, but only if I apply alot of force to the ****, if I just spin the **** with my fingertips nothing happens. Seems like the **** is not catching, which makes me believe it is in the **** somewhere. Any other ideas?

i had the exact same thing, the **** wasn't catching, i looked under the dash and watch the mechanism as i turned the ****. first just normal pressure, then applying pressure, you can see the actuator arm move but sometimes it starts to move only while applying pressure and returns to the cold position as soon as you let up. I didn't go any further into dismantling the whole thing, i just brought it to the dealer to fix but it did take a couple days for the part to come it so my advice go to the dealer for a fix, i'm at work but when i get a chance i'll try to find the part number so you could call in advance to have them order it. all under warranty of course.

ok, cool.

How did you look at it behind the dash? Does taking the glovebox out give you a view?

I have the same Problem, but mine is even worst.

I went to service 2 weeks ago, and actually asked them to replace it but it was out of stock so I have them to order the parts.

Going to call in tomorrow and see if the part is in yet

the mechanical plastic arm is on the driver side, just move the driver side seat ALLLL the way back and move the steering wheel as high as you can and get under the steering column. You'll see the whole white plastic set up, but here's a tip: keep one hand on the temp **** while you're trying to position yourself under the steering column, cuz once you get a good look (i was on my back looking at it) its hard to find the temp **** while watching the unit.

now while watching to the whole PRESSURE turn, you'll see it and if its quiet enough you can hear it.

they rfeplaced the whole unit on mine. it did the same thing, push and it would move a bit. eventually the **** just spun around and around. the plastic part was fine. i took it off and tried with some pliers. the interals were fsked. they had to replace the whole climate control area below the radio. both ***** the buttons and all. now i just want a sunvisr that last longer than 2 weeks.

Yeah went out there and saw the motor operating in the driver floorboard. I removed the **** and it looked fine, so I spun the the little arm that the **** attaches to and it would only work properly if I applied alot of pressure on it. So, you guys are right, it looks like the whole climate control unit will probably have to be replaced.

Yeah at least mine is pretty much stuck on COLD right now, or I would be dying. I am going to try and get it fixed next week while at the beach. I have already had this whole unit replaced once for a cracked button, I hope these parts are not problematic.
