Sucking in air noise after turn off

I am new to this site, LOVE my RX-8 but there is a lot I still dont know about it. One thing that has been bothering me though is after driving my car for a really long time, and I turn off my engine, when I get out of my vehicle there is this loud SUCKING IN AIR sound. I freaked out at first because I've never heard a vehicle just start sucking in LOTS AND LOTS OF air after its turned off. I was just wondering if this is normal it has 74k km '04 MT. Any information would be useful, and thank you in advance. P.S. sorry if I'm dumb in advance too...... which I am.... which is why I came here..... thanks.

that would be your fans... they are programmed to stay on even after you take your key out if the engine is over a certain temp.

That's what I figured but I wanted to be sure it wasnt like my car telling me that something is wrong and thats why the fan is staying on even after your car is turned off. Thanks again.

welcome to the club Mimic! Alz0rz is correct, those are your fans coming on becaues at the time you turned your car off, the temps were above the normal operating range. (nothing to worry about)

Enjoy the 8, it's a great car.

Who cares about the noise from the fans. Let the fans do there job and cool the car down.

While it wouldn't be all that bad to turn it off and then on again..........don't do it. Let them do their job, and sometimes it(the fan or fans) can run for up to a couple of minutes.

i've only been driving my car for 2 weeks so no i havent changed my radiator coolant. also our locations are a lot different, it is HOT all the time on okinawa so that might have something to do with it coming on for more than 5 seconds. BUT i will definitely try flushing it for ***** and giggles to see if it has any affect. Thanks for the heads up.
