Strange stalling

Well my 8 is my 2nd car so I only drive it 100 miles every 1-2 weeks. So I go to drive it for the first time in like 5 days and it drove fine out of my neighborhood and when I go to give it a little gas right around 4-5k rpm it started knocking and sputtering and then the tac dropped and I rolled onto the side of the street. The check engine light came one as well. I thought it had died but i rev'ed it a little and it did that alright and I drove it back home but the light is still on. Any ideas on what it could be? The nearest dealer to me is 45 minutes away so i dont want to up and drive that far if i won't be able to make it.

Thanks

Coils, Cat, or Engine. Call the dealer.

Shouldn't be a result of only driving a hundred miles every week or so. I drive mine once a week—sometimes less—and have never had that problem. I'm pretty sure any modern car should be able to handle that with no ill effects.

Well I don't know what happened but it won't even start now. It tries to turn over but its almost like there's no power and I was jumping off my other car. There was heat from the exhaust and a smell of gas so at least the engine isn't locked up or anything like that.

So have the dealer check it out. (My point was just that I don't think this problem has anything to do with the fact that you don't drive it very much).

Maybe it is a problem with ignition. Spark plug or coil. Call the dealer and see if they reimburse towing under warranty. If it is still under warranty have it towed there. There is no sense in spending time and money on it if you don't have to.
