strange sound

Hi i have a 08 with 24k miles and today when i was driving to indianapolis it started to have a loud hissing sound comming from the front/mid of the car whenever gas peddle is pressed. also there is fuel smell comming into the car when car is stopped. and i seemed to loose power around 5-7k rpm

after a while i stopped to get a coffee and other stuff i touched my exhaust tip and it wasnt even warm.

would this be a clogged cat? or a fuel pump issue?

oh also my exhaust sound is gone.... above 3000 rpm

loosing high rpm power usually due to clogged cat.
and that hissing sound should be the cat.

Have any mods?

It would probably help some if you got someone to give it some gas in neutral while you stand outside and see if you can determine where the hiss is coming from... Could be either of the things you named, or something else entirely. Hard to say without more info.

i have an agency power exhaust and just supension mod but thats about it.

the sound comes from right of me.. but when the window is down it sounds like its right under me too.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say that it is the cat, but can't say for sure.

Have you had any other problems lately that could have possibly lead to the cat failing? Or had any damage to the bottom of the car?... 24k miles is a little low for it to randomly fail.
