I hate it when that happens. Just when I'm about to build the most epic car ever.

Have you tried jiggling the wheel back and forth? Sometimes the steering wheel lock mechanism gets a little out of alignment and won't let you turn the steering. Also there should be a way to bypass this interlock.

I'd be quite intrigued if there was fluid leaking.

You either damaged something internal to the $2,000 steering rack or somehow engaged the steering lock in the column. I've disassembled my steering shaft from the wheel to the joint before the rack, and there is nothing else that could hold it to one side.

I am making the assumption that you dont have a wheel embedded in the frame.

You activated the "i drive like an idiot because I am cool" lock. The lock will release after you calm the f&ck down and drive like a responsible adult.

Wait, the steering wheel rotates but the front wheels dont?

You definately broke something. Check the upper joint and shaft splines, lower joint and shaft splines, the shafts themselves. If turning the steering wheel makes the lower joint and rack input shaft turn, congratulations, you have to replace your steering rack.

If you are lucky, you only snapped a steering shaft, joint, or stripped the shaft splines at one of the joints.

No, he's saying that with the steering column disconnected, the steering wheel moves freely, but the rack/wheels don't.

Looks like you'll be needing a new rack. Start checking the Part out threads and hope for a good deal. Mazmart may be able to help you out as well. It's not going to be cheap. I doubt you'll find anyone to weld the rack for you, nor would i advise you to. Good luck.

You're getting **** because you started off your thread admitting to being reckless in a place that frowns on it. A lot of people feel it's a ding on our community to have people doing stupid **** in places they shouldn't. I encourage it. The more wrecked cars means the more parts I can get for cheap.

Agree 100%, we have to share the road.

Gives us late 30's guys a bad name. Same way I feel about those m/c guys doing wheelies down the highway.

There is always a time a place for that stuff but not on the public roads.

I guess you think you're such a good driver that you don't need two hands on the wheel ... you do know that Fast & Furious is just made up Hollywood BS, don't you?

Not much shifting while drifting.

And Team races his RX-8, which is very common knowledge on here, so your attempt to throw it back at his just looks humorous and immature.

YOU are the one who caused this, and it is yet another example of our beloved 8 falling into the hands of someone who doesnt deserve it and trashes it out of ignorance, negligence, or stupidity.

Look, here is another: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...68#post4140368

So yeah, you disgust us to one degree or another, and it's bound to show.
