Squeaky Brakes!

My brakes squeak really bad almost all of the time when I slow down and stop and when I have my foot on the brake when I go into reverse. I already had two shops say that my brakes are fine. I even had a shop put new rotors on about 5000 miles ago and the brakes still squeak. The sound is sometimes so unbearable because the squeak changes tone as I press the brake pedal down farther. I was wondering if there are any things I could do to make them stop squeaking. I am thinking of putting new pads on because I was told that uneven wear on them can cause squeaking. But I would really like to not put pads on and still have the squeaking.

thanks!

what kind of pads did you get? I don't know if I should go with the oem ones that have been on my car.

on my 98 contour my brakes squeaked exactly like your describing. I had disc brakes in the front and drums in the back..for the front i used anti brake spray..had to take the pads off and sprayed behind them..fixed the front problem.

As for the shoes i had to replace my pads and the actual drums...fixed them perfectly.

Try the anti squeak brake spray.

Dont go with OEM ones. Alot of members here go with Hawk Brake Pads. I have Wagners but wouldnt recommend it cuz it dusts alot. It did fix my squeeky problem

Hawk Ceramic pads, properly bed-in, silenced my brake squeaks. Low dust as well.
