hey guys ive searched but i havent found anything on the forum.latley iv been noticing when i turn on my car a few seconds later it smells like gas and it smells the most when its a cold start... thanks in advance

could be normal...8's run rich. or could be a burned cat

 

the only mod i is a drop in k&n filter.....i know our cars run rich like a mother f.... but its weird ive never smelled it on another 8

 

then it may be your cat. when your cat is fried (or if you ran without a cat) it smells like a boat.

under warranty? if so, take it in, you should get your cat replaced. i had the boat smell and got my cat replaced under warranty.

not under warranty - unless someone else chimes in, you may need to remove the cat and inspect it yourself. never done this, so don't ask me how

The cat is under warranty for 8yr 80k miles

 

o really i need to do more info on that cause i bought my 8 used... can i go to any mazda dealership or the one where the car was bought originally?

 

well if you go catless, you'll have that smell all the time, just fyi

should be any dealer unless when you bought it used you got some weird extended warranty. standard mazda warranty is good at any dealer.
