well the good news is.. its still running really nice with the VFAD mod in place.. But the start up is still sorta rough and kinda slow but.. Its not horrid.. I'll look into ordering a starter and a battery.. and perhaps. A tune up.. what ever money I have.. was trying to save for a mid-pipe and cat back from AP with the AP pulleys... should be seeing a little money soon.

I found a tuner in town that is the bomb with rotars. Del Motorsports. good news is.. i will be deploying soon.. well.. I am going to swap out my motor for an RX-7 single turbo 13B.. good price.. about 8gs but he tells me if I can bring in some more RX8s i'll get that price lowered a bit.. woo hoo.. right.. i'll drink to that.

I had mine replaced at 55K and 4yrs with no questions asked about maintenance. Who in their right mind doesn't even try?

i already went to the dealership and talked to them.. it seems that two other 8s came in with the same issue and well.. they turned them down.. so those guys have to pay for the testing and then they have how ever much they owe on the car.. its like a 13grand paper weight once everything goes out..
The service guys told me that without service records they can not do anything.. ZERO!! so it makes no sense to go and try to hard about swapping the motor.
BTW the other two 8s were an 06 with 34k and a 08 with 20 +/-
just putting it out there.. If you dont have service papers a lot of dealers wont touch it... so just have them or start up service and save up a few for some records.

Sounds like a terrible dealer.
Also you could contact MNAO and see what they say about it. Let the dealer know of your intentions.
However, I'm all for the swap, should be one sick rx8 when done.

+1. Call the Mazda North America customer service line and explain the situation and tell them your dealer is denying a warranty service request. They should set them straight.

^.................you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink!
Seems relucant to make the phone call. Even if it's a 10-15% chance, it's still worth the phone call and hassle.

Well here's the TSB that states his exact problem and the warranty terms. It does not state anywhere that the customer must provide documentation of oil changes and that the warranty period is 8yr/100K.

Update...
After Mazda located all the back ground information on the 8 they contacted tech line which went ahead and appoved the new motor to be replace.. two weeks later the motor is installed.. 300 bucks later worth of car rental I find out the day I have to return my rental that , when they did the tests on the motor , they found out that this motor too was showing low compression in the rotors and it was also off meaning the front vs the rear was two different compressions. bad idle, bad start.. SOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.. tech line approved another motor to be ordered and replaced.. now we are talkin me out of my car for damn a freakin month.. and they approved a rental for me.. BUT......... I cant pick it up cause I am in what the army calls Warrior Leader Course. A three week school about being a noncomssioned officer. which means.. No cell phones till the end of the class day. thats about.. from 4am to 930pm at night.. herts closes at 6... OH boy.. looks like I know one broke soldier. Thats my update.. now talk amongst your selves.
on a lighter note.. the dealer is also installing my underdrive AP pully and my AP mid-pipe for freee... thats a save of 400bucks in maintaince install

I'm willing to bet the dealer was trying to resurrect your engine by doing the ZOOM ZOOM Cleaner, plugs and coils then if it worked, they were going to pocket the money. It's really easy to tell. Look in your engine bay and see if the engine is squeaky clean with a new stamp on the right side with the SN. Dealer sounds sketchy.
