Serious loss of power, please help!

Cut the downstream O2 sensor bung off to bring it in to autozone to make sure I got the proper fitting O2 sensor. Big mistake, I know, and I deserve flak for that.

Soldered that back on and reconnected the O2 sensor, but I still have an extreme loss of power w/ an inconsistent idle and hard start.

The Mazda dealer said I need to replace that entire wire system and that may not even solve my issue.

Your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, and knowledge are much appreciated!!!

Thank you,
Amanda

Did you have your loss of power issue before you cut the bung? I'm guessing you actually mean the plug. The bung is where the female threads are in the pipe. Basically why did you remove the o2 sensor to begin with?

If you had this problem before and its still the same now with a new o2 sensor that wasn't the problem. Soldering the wires should work just fine as a fix for the cut plug, provided you did a good job soldering them. I think you need to look elsewhere.

There are thousand threads and stickies about loss of power and rough idle/starting issues. most of them revolve around the same issue that is probably what you have you just need to search. Do a Google search for "how to search RX8 club" Follow the steps and all your questions will be answered.
