series 2 fuel pump

I bought this FP on amazon. it said it was for S1 but it definitely looks like a s2 pump

Amazon Amazon

I cut off 1/4 inch of the siphon on the bottom to get the fuel hose to clip on it but it feels like the assembly is too big. I tried to fit it with a friend and couldnt get the ring to pop on. anyone have any experience? do I have to modify the connector for this one?

Yeah it is a S2 pump but it works, you just have to cut the bit off like you said but the rest fits fine.

The only things you need to modify to put a S2 pump in a S1:

Float level sensor (modify the plug coming from the tank, NOT the female side on pump)
Both fuel line connectors (On top and the one from the passenger side in the tank) The fittings are different sizes.

I never made any modification the the S2 assembly itself at all

Here is the thread for DIY:

I had it done on my 2008 RX8, working with a good rotary wrench in my area. Followed this DIY and it worked perfectly. Not too difficult and worth the upgrade.

TeamRX8, chill out man, whew !

The fuel pump they sent me was assembled wrong. The top part was put on flipped, because of that the fuel pump didn't close fully.

I was standing there scratching my head because I put the pump into the tank and it still stuck out an inch while fully compressed. Compared it to pic and saw it was wrongly assembled. That's made in mexico for ya. Spent 2 hours undoing all the little clips and claps on the assembly to flip the top portion.

ended up spending 4 hours and still didn't deflood the car yet zzzz
