not really lookin for a solution but just some advice. i know it wont be resolved till i get it to a shop but i just got off work and i experienced this problem and no where is open. live south of pittsburgh so its gotten lil colder. started my car after work let it run for a few minutes to heat it up usually run it for 2-3 minutes before i pull out but this time it was closer to 10. pulled out and exceleration was extremely slow. thought i should rev high to clear the exhaust a lil and it wouldnt go past 7k rpm. trouble climbing uphill thought i would have to down shift to first but the hill wasnt long enough for that to happen. when i released the gas i would hear a pop in the exhaust. got to the house put in reverse and it stalled. oh yeah cel was going from solid to flashing. when i shut it off to park there was smoke eminatting from the exhaust, underneath, and under the hood. realy didnt have any specific smell to it i.e. oil or gas. just wondering if any 1 has any ideas on what this problem is and should i be highly concearned when i do take it tomorrow to get repaired.

 

most would say check the coils, plugs and wires, the symptoms you described seem so much like it except the smoke part

 

Should have driven it to the local Autozone to have them read the CEL.
Might have given us a little clue as to what was going on.
Smoke coming from under the car, hood, and exhaust could be anything from coolant to oil leaking.
But those are just guesses since we don't know much else.

i had the same problem once with the slow acceleration and going up hill, you need new plugs and coils that will do the trick

 

the dealer told me that i was running a retarded engine half of it was worling i also had the smoke due to poor plugs but tune up fixed all of that
