RX8 braking issues?

Might be that the brakes need to be bleed.

Last weekend driving on some windy roads at 65mph I braked hard. The last quarter of the pedal travel it finally started to slow down. The brakes stayed spongy after that till I shut off the car. Pumped the brakes with the car off, and they held pressure. Restarted the car and they where fine but a slightly little more spongy than normal.

Did you do any brake work recently? How is the fluid level? When you braked hard, did the ABS engage? Brakes will usually go spongy once air is introduced into the system. While they may still work, you could have a dangerous situation if there is a small leak. It could be a brake line, the master cylinder, a leaking caliper, bad seals, and a number of other things. Start with the basics and then work your way up.

The brakes have not been worked on. As for the ABS I have had the dash light on for the last month or so after driving on a gravel windy road. Dealer is not sure how to fix it. The brake fluid is is dark golden but still clear.

I'm snowed in right now or I would check out the car.
