Rear Wheel Banging Noise
Hi Guys,
Hoping someone here can help me.. I have a 2005 RX8 and the passenger side rear wheel seems to make a banging/clacking noise when I pull off or reverse.. At first i thought it was the exhaust hitting something but after having it on the ramp realised it was coming from the wheel itself.. Has anyone come across this problem or know what it may be? Thanks, A man in a panik... :mchase: |

The garage I took it to said it could be the ABS sensor ring??? Does that make any sense to anyone? Cheers |
OK.... so this sound occurs while you're driving, not just when you first start rolling?
Easiest thing to do, jack up the car and spin the wheel while you feel and hear for rubbing. If the Speed Sensor was getting whacked by the sprocket, you would also see the ABS warning light illuminate on the dash. Its just an induction sensor picking up the sprocket teeth as the wheel spins. |

So confused my head may explode! :bash: |
Brake piston sticking?

Maybe loose Endlinks? Very common noise maker
When the car is jacked up, can you wiggle the wheel? Could be your wheel bearings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSsC-...eature=related |
TPMS sensor ....

Got my baby back from the garage today..
Turns out had a stone wedged between the calliper and the disk.. how that happened is a mystery to me! lool.. thanks for all the posts though guys. |
I'm experiencing literally the exact same sound - sounds like a metal hitting metal sound, almost as if there are BB's rolling around inside the wheel. It doesn't do it all the time, and it seems to only be during low speeds. I also had to pull over today to help a buddy and it was awfully gravelly, I wonder if the same thing happened. I'll take the wheel off this weekend, and inspect - if necessary I'll take the brakes apart too but I would like to avoid that if possible!
