rattling and hesitation in 2nd gear

i just bought this 04 three weeks ago. I've taken it to the dealer already for a new left taillight and to turn off my airbag light. Now i just noticed today that when I accelerate fast, once I hit 5k rpms power just dies and the car makes a strange noise. Also if im in neutral and I rev the engine around 2k rpms the car rattles and makes a wierd noise. Any ideas?

Just take it to the dealer - they're familiar with this symptom. If you want to see what it might be, search this section, but it won't make you happy. Luckily, its covered under warranty.

You might try "so who belongs to the new engine club" thread. If the sound is pinging, you'll need a new engine - the recall letters just went out about a month ago. Quite a few had clogged cats from a previous flood. Those are the 2 issues that may fit your symptoms.

the rattle has nothing to do with misfiring.

this is what you need

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...4-05-1448e.pdf

and at last, this one

remember, you HAVE to tell them to check your cat, because Im 90 % sure you have a clogged cat. If you leave it like that, You might have to wait until the cat *completely burns out* to get your power back(you sitll have to go back to dealer cuz your CEL will go on) , or until one day your engine blows up.
